Peer Support Groups
CorStone’s Peer Support Groups include support groups for people dealing with a variety of challenging life situations, as well as for those surviving the death of a spouse, partner, child or other loved one. Groups are co-facilitated by trained volunteer facilitators and qualified Marriage and Family Therapy Interns (MFTI). Our groups use the Center’s proven Attitudinal Healing model founded by psychiatrist Gerald Jampolsky M.D. in 1975. Attitudinal Healing is not clinical therapy but rather a supportive peer model used to validate individual experiences, help individuals to connect to others, and rebuild self-confidence and trust.
Most groups meet on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. A $10 payment (cash, personal check) per two-hour group session is required at the beginning of each session. Sliding scale is available for those in need.
Please note that walk-ins are not permitted and that a confidential telephone intake is required prior to attendance at a group. Please contact us at 415-331-6161 x108. Your call will be returned by an MFT intern within one business day.

San Quentin Prison Program
Since 1992 the Center has offered a support group and limited individual peer support meetings for inmates at San Quentin Prison. The group meets every Monday evening and is facilitated by trained Center volunteers. This project offers inmates the opportunity to explore feelings, thoughts and attitudes that cause fear, conflict and separation.
