Project Grace Nicaragua Memorial Trip
June 19-29, 2010
Location:
Nicaragua Event Website: http://www.corstone.org/html/center/programs.cfm?ProgCatID=5Project Grace is teaming with Seeds of Learning (SOL) to arrange and coordinate this trip, which is open to siblings, parents, spouses, grandparents, children or anyone else who would like to honor a loved one by serving a community in need.
SOL has been working for over 18 years to help increase access to education in Central America. Each year SOL organizes groups and sends over 180 work group volunteers to Nicaragua and El Salvador to work alongside community members to build a much-needed school. To date, volunteers and community members have helped build almost 100 classrooms.
During our 10 day trip volunteers will have the chance to live and work together as they spend their days mixing concrete, laying bricks, digging the foundation, tying rebar, and other tasks to help build a school with local parents, teachers, youth, children and SOL staff. Evenings will be spent together as a group, enjoying a typical dinner, with time built in for reflection and sharing stories.
The cost of the trip is $2,200 and includes group airfare, lodging, insurance, ground transportation and all meals. A limited number of scholarships are available.
