Mary Mclain
Past President
Mary is a mediator with a practice that draws on nearly 25 years of experience in law and dispute resolution, and an LLM degree in Dispute Resolution with an emphasis on Mediation from the Straus Institute of Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University School of Law. Since 1998, Ms. McLain has successfully mediated hundreds of cases in a wide-range of areas including commercial/business, employment, real estate, personal injury, insurance, probate, and partnerships. She has also served as an arbitrator, discovery referee and neutral evaluator in numerous matters. Ms. McLain has served on mediation panels and/or provided services for the following courts and private organizations:
United States District Court, Northern District
Court of Appeal, First Appellate District
San Francisco, Marin, and Los Angeles County Courts
California Mediation Program
Additionally, Ms. McLain is currently an adjunct Professor of Mediation at Boalt Law School, UC Berkeley as well as an adjunct Professor for the Mediation Clinic at UC Hastings School of Law.
She is past president of the Marin County Bar Association and the Marin County Women Lawyers. Other board affiliations include: Marin Abused Women Services, Friends of the Redwoods and the Mill Valley Tennis Club.
She and her husband reside in Mill Valley where they raised four children. Her interests are in social issues, travel and tennis.
